(1) Face the right sides of bodice together. Pin on and stitch along the side lines.
Serge or zigzag side line at the edge as shown. Press seams towards back.
(2) Face the right sides of front and back of frills together and stitch them together. (3) Serge or zigzag stitch the side lines of frill together as picture. (4) On the wrong side of frill, fold hem line of frill twice(0.5cm/1/4inch)X2 concealing the cut edge and press. Sew the hem as shown.
(5) First, fold the fabric in half lengthwise and sew down the raw edge using a 3/8″(1cm) seam allowance.
Trim the points on any sharp angles.
Turn strap right side out through the opening.
(6) Pin the straps in place on the wrong side of bodice.
(7) Face the right side of frill and wrong side of bodice together.
Match the top edge of frill and bodice as shown. Sew the top edge of bodice all the way around as shown.
(8) Turn bodice wrong side out.
Sew 3/8” from the folded edge.
Be sure to leave about 3cm (1 1/4inch) opening so that you can feed your elastic.
(9) Insert elastic band into the opening.
Overlap elastic band at ends and sew to secure as shown. Sew the opening shut.
(10) Face the right sides of front and back together and stitch side seams together.
Serge or zigzag stitch seams together. Press seams towards back.
(11) On the wrong side of skirt, fold twice concealing the cut edge and press. Sew the hem as shown.
(12) Match the bodice to skirt waist line with right sides.
(13) Align the bodice and skirt right sides together.
Pin all the way around waist line and sew 2.5cm(1”) from the edge as shown.
Serge or do zigzag the raw edge.
(14) Press waist seams toward top(bodice).
You have to Edge stitch over this along the fold – you will be sewing through all the layers from the top. Be sure to leave about 3cm (1 1/4") opening so that you can feed your elastic.
Insert elastic band into the opening.
Sew the opening shut.
Overlap elastic band at ends and sew to secure as shown.
